Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking mechanical, civil and accredited petroleum engineers with entry level experience in natural gas pipeline design for our Syracuse, NY or Waltham, MA location.

 

This position requires good technical, organizational and communication skills from a hands-on individual. CHA is performing a comprehensive records review of natural gas transmission pipelines. The engineer will join an existing team to review as-built maps and other documentation for the purpose of reviewing pipeline integrity.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review, scan, and capture relevant information from the historical documentation gathered for each pipeline.
  • Extract data from design and/or as built drawings for all the components installed along the pipeline.
  • Analyze and compare the information obtained from the historical records with data acquired from the drawings.
  • Verify the mechanical properties of the pipelines in order to determine % Specified Minimum Yield Strength (% SMYS) and ANSI Class (pressure) ratings.
  • Ensure hydrostatic testing and radiographic testing was performed on the pipeline as per industry standards during the time of installation.
  • Consolidate outstanding issues and formulate recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Produce status reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or petroleum engineering from an accredited program is required.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience with natural gas is preferred. However, we are considering candidates with all levels of experience with the natural gas industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required; GIS experience preferred.
  • Civil 3D CADD skills are a plus.
  • Local candidates preferred; candidates within 10 hours of project site preferred.
