Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer based out of our Albany, NY office. 

This position will be located in Rockland County, NY at a client site. The position may eventually transition to Albany, NY after an estimated 1 year or sooner.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design in the fields of transmission, distribution & substation engineering.
  • Perform structural analysis and foundation analysis of steel and wood transmission and substation structures.
  • Utilize design knowledge and experience with various materials including, but not limited to: concrete, steel, and wood.
  • Work on small to medium sized utility projects while being mentored by senior engineer staff.
  • Work as a member of a design team on large structural projects and utility projects.
  • Coordinate with drafters and designers to develop contract drawings.
  • Perform project and construction administration tasks including editing specifications, attending project meetings, reviewing shop drawings, preparing cost estimates, writing reports, etc.
  • Travel to client site on an as-needed basis, including day trips and overnight stays, as projects require.
  • During the one-year on-site contract term, the candidate will have four-night stays in order to report to the client office during the full work week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Management required. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Coursework in structural engineering or internship/work experience in structural engineering required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred: civil, structural, or geotechnical design experience for utility, industrial, municipal, commercial, and/or institution facilities.
  • EIT is preferred.
  • Experience in Civil Site engineering duties such as: site grading, shoreline restoration and shoreline protection preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and PLS CAD are preferred.
  • Experience with Transmission is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment is required.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License is required.
  • Local candidates to Rockland County/Upstate, NY preferred.
