Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer (Water/Wastewater) in our Buffalo, NY and Rochester, NY, and Syracuse, NY and Albany, NY office.

 

This individual will be responsible primarily for providing structural engineering services on water and wastewater projects with potential of working on governmental, institutional, municipal, commercial, aviation, healthcare, educational, manufacturing, industrial and sports projects.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the structural design of small to medium sized water and wastewater projects.
  • Assists senior level structural engineers on large water and wastewater projects. 
  • Prepare design calculations, contract drawings and specifications for manufacturing, industrial, water / wastewater, commercial, federal, municipal, aviation, healthcare, educational, and sports related structures.
  • Performs inspections and structural assessments of existing structures including preparation of assessment reports. 
  • May also, at various times, be required to provide structural design assistance on governmental, institutional, municipal, commercial, aviation, healthcare, educational, manufacturing, industrial and sports projects.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Concentration 
  • 4+ years of structural design experience is required.
  • Experience in concrete, masonry and structural steel design is required. 
  • 2+ years of experience working on water and wastewater projects is required.
  • Experience performing construction administration related tasks for completed designs such as construction inspections, shop drawing review, answering contractor questions and RFI’s.
  • Must have knowledge of current state and international building codes.
  • Must be organized, flexible, and have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and time management skills.. 
  • Quality/detail oriented. 

PREFERRED

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering 
  • P.E. license or S.E. license 
  • Knowledge of the following structural related software; RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Enercalc, Tedds, REVIT.
