Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc., is currently seeking a Finance Manager to join our American Fire Projection Team in our Birmingham, AL office. 

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Oversight: Oversee all activities of the AFP/AFA Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial P&L statements and balance sheets, and annual budgets. Assist independent CPA’s with preparation of annual audits.
  • Accounts Payable: Ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, match up purchase orders, apply discounts, employee expense reports, and implement and maintain cash controls.
  • Accounts Receivable: Oversee projects’ invoicing and collections activities. Ensures the accurate and timely management of all payables and subcontractors including and monitoring of retainage.
  • Payroll: Oversee payroll processing including total corporate payroll tax compliance. Reviews quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports. Assists employees with any payroll related questions or issues.
  • Corporate Tax: Assure corporate income tax compliance at both Federal and State of Alabama levels to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes. Assist independent CPA’s with preparation of annual tax returns for MN and approx. 5 surrounding states.
  • Sales & Use Tax: Oversee sales & use tax process to ensure compliance in multiple states for customer invoicing, accounts payable and credit card purchases as well as fixed asset purchases and sales.
  • Controls and Compliance: Establish, document and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Other Tasks: Manages and executes additional tasks including but not limited to fixed asset/depreciation process, maintain and administer banking relationships, manage health insurance process, full accounting of equipment rentals, maintain fleet registrations, complete various government surveys, manage any required professional business registration
  • Special Projects: Participate in a wide variety of special projects (including financial system integration) and compile a variety of special reports as needed.
  • Customer Service: Works courteously and professionally with all employees, co-workers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and customers. Protects and ensures the security and confidentiality of all sensitive information, and handles this information carefully and attentively.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • MBA and/or CPA certification preferred
  • 5+ years of Accounting and Finance experience required
  • Experience with project invoicing, subcontractor invoicing and monitoring, financial statements, balance sheets and auditing preferred.
