Overview

CHA Tech Services (CHATS) is seeking a Construction Superintendent for our Atlanta, GA office location. The Construction Superintendent will be working on client sites, and therefore frequent travel is required. We are accepting applications of candidates from all locations, including outside of the Atlanta area and state of Georgia who are willing to travel for work.

 

The Construction Superintendent will be CHATS’s primary point of contact at the project site and will be responsible for providing overall on-site field administration, supervision, inspection and technical management for all construction operations. The Construction Superintendent will coordinate and execute the work, along with the project manager, in accordance with the plans/specifications and remain consistent with the project schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project management in developing a comprehensive project schedule. Communicate sequencing and scheduling updates to Owner, management, subcontractors, and vendors. Manage project completion through project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries and the management of material and document submittals/approvals. Exercise judgment and discretion to maintain the project schedule while maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Possess complete working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, the contract with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals- and all other project related documents. Maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts. Maintain a set of contract documents that contains all the current contract changes and clarifications.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and client representatives to keep them apprised of the progress and notify them of any issues that are being addressed.
  • Coordinate construction activities so that they to do not interfere with Owner’s business operations (via planning and scheduling off-shift work as required).
  • Lead resolution process for construction related problems/issues.
  • Perform on-site management, supervision and coordination of all programmed work.
  • Confirm that daily and weekly short-range planning is communicated to project management team.
  • Determine manpower requirements to attain schedule milestones and monitor manpower levels and subcontractors to ensure conformance with the construction plan.
  • Control change/scope creep, manage scope changes, prepare and process change orders.
  • Participate in value engineering in an attempt to reduce costs and save time.
  • Analyze situations, identify and forecast potential problems and evaluate viable options, and recommend/implement an appropriate course of action.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce a project site logistics and temporary facilities plan.
  • Coordinate Owner procured equipment and material deliveries. Perform acceptance inspections and report findings.
  • Understand all trade contractor’s means and methods in accordance with project contract documents.
  • Perform and monitor job site control reporting measures including daily reports, accident and incident reports.
  • Implement site specific health & safety plan and play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project.
  • Monitor the individual subcontractors’ site specific safety program in accordance with applicable policies and processes, OSHA requirements, local, state and federal laws. Manage OSHA site visits.
  • Act as point of contact and coordinate all permitting agencies during construction.
  • Coordinate all required third party inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate's degree in construction preferred, or equivalent industry experience. 
  • 10 years of construction superintendent experience in industrial, mechanical or electrical construction.
  • Experience with industrial and/or heavy commercial projects ranging in size from $5M to $20M.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to exercise discretion and the ability to make independent judgments.
  • Extensive travel may be required based on the location of the project sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communications are required.
  • Ability to understand and interpret client’s contracts.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment.
  • Professional, dedicated and focused.
  • Must provide a high level of service and responsiveness to client and co-workers.
  • Valid driver's license.
