Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Inspector – NICET Level III to assist with the construction of a new Commercial Vehicle Inspection Facility and NYS Police substation near the Canadian border in the Town of Champlain, Clinton County, NY.  This project includes building, roadway, and parking lot construction.  This project is expected to begin in the early spring 2018 and continue into the summer of 2019.

Responsibilities

NICET Level III Construction Inspector, working under the direct supervision of the Resident Engineer, will be responsible to provide construction inspection and observations on a wide range of construction activities including earthwork, HMA and PCC pavement, storm drainage installations, and building construction.  Will be required to prepare daily construction observation reports, measure and record in-place quantities, be familiar with MURK procedures, and interact daily with contractor personnel.

Qualifications

  • 10 plus years of related inspection experience.
  • NICET Level III certification required.
  • Must be thoroughly experienced with NYSDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Sheets, Material Requirements, MURK Procedures, and MUTCD Standards. Experience with NYS Building Codes a plus.
  • Building construction experience is required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively coordinate construction meetings.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to interpret construction plans and contracts.
  • Must be experienced with using construction management software (APPIA, CEES, Site Manager). Experience with APPIA is a plus.
  • Must be a proactive individual to identify problems, and work effectively with the Resident Engineer to seek resolution.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk through rough terrain, and safely navigate construction sites.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
