Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Office Engineer – NICET Level III or IV to assist with the construction of a new Commercial Vehicle Inspection Facility and NYS Police substation near the Canadian border in the Town of Champlain, Clinton County, NY.  This project includes building, roadway, and parking lot construction.  This project is expected to begin in the early spring 2018 and continue into the summer of 2019.

Responsibilities

Office Engineer in charge of all construction office functions including maintaining and reviewing daily construction observation forms and daily diaries, maintaining logs for RFI’s, OOC’s, Shop Drawings and Submittals, Material Submittals, interact directly with NYSDOT personnel.

Qualifications

  • 10 plus years of related inspection experience.
  • NICET Level III or IV certification or NYS PE required.
  • Must be thoroughly experienced with NYSDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Sheets, Material Requirements, MURK Procedures, and MUTCD Standards. Experience with NYS Building Codes is a plus.
  • Building construction experience is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively coordinate construction meetings.
  • Must be able to work effectively with construction inspection staff.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to interpret construction plans and contracts.
  • Must be experienced with using construction management software (APPIA, CEES, SiteManager). Experience with APPIA is a plus.
  • Must show strong computer skills and be comfortable writing concise letters, reports, and directives.
  • Must be a proactive individual to identify problems, and work effectively with the Resident Engineer, Engineer-of-Record, Contractor, and Owner to seek resolution.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
  • Must be able to safely navigate construction sites.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
