Overview

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Inspector– NICET Level II to assist with a highway and bridge reconstruction project in the City of Port Jervis, Orange County, NY.  This project is expected to begin in the early spring 2018 and continue through the summer of 2019.

Responsibilities

NICET Level II Construction Inspector, working under the direct supervision of the Resident Engineer, will be responsible to provide construction inspection and observations on a wide range of construction activities including earthwork, HMA pavement, storm drainage installations, precast concrete culvert construction, traffic signals, maintenance and protection of traffic, signs and striping, utility relocations, temporary bridge construction, existing bridge demolition, and new bridge construction.  Will be required to prepare daily construction observation reports, measure and record in-place quantities, be familiar with MURK procedures, and interact daily with contractor personnel.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related inspection experience.
  • NICET Level II certification required.
  • Must be experienced with NYSDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Sheets, Material Requirements, MURK Procedures, and MUTCD Standards.
  • Bridge construction experience is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to interpret construction plans.
  • Experience with APPIA construction management software is a plus.
  • Must show strong computer skills and be able to write concise daily reports.
  • Must be a proactive individual to identify problems, and work effectively with the Resident Engineer to seek resolution.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk through rough terrain, and safely navigate construction sites.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
