Overview

CHA Consulting is currently seeking a Senior Level Water/Wastewater Engineer in our Blacksburg, VA office location as Section Manager within the Water/Wastewater Technical Group. This position will be responsible for the management and technical development of water/wastewater staff and the technical quality and financial performance of projects assigned to the Southeast Section.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, and production of assigned projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and assistance on project assignments.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, plan staff workload and project delivery schedules.
  • Assess backlog and maximize the utilization goals of the technical staff.
  • Perform the role of QA/QC reviewer or technical advisor on projects within Section.
  • Adherence to QA/QC procedures of deliverables produced by the Section including studies, reports, designs, construction drawings and bid specifications, and construction administration of  projects involving the supply, treatment, distribution of drinking water and the collection and treatment of  wastewater systems; specifically dealing with process design, and hydraulics.
  • Assist the project management and marketing teams with preparation of technical scopes and fees associated with proposals.
  • Work closely with the Water/Wastewater Technical Group Leader on hiring, terminating, promotion, recognition, and overall development and performance of the technical staff within the Section.
  • Conduct performance reviews and hold career development discussions with staff within the Southeast Section.
  • Travel as needed to support client, project, and/or staff needs.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience; resource management and staff utilization; experience working on water and wastewater treatment facilities including storage, distribution, treatment and studies on large and small municipal and industrial facilities is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.  Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Familiarity and/or knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and SewerCAD preferred.
  • AWWA and WEF affiliations desirable
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Willing to work successfully with the technical group leader and project management team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with internal and external clients.
