  • Overview

    Gryphon International, a CHA Company, is currently seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Thermal Mechanical Technical Group in our St. Catharines, Ontario office.

     

    The position will primarily support projects in the Industry and Energy market. We are seeking candidates looking for challenging work and interested in advancing their career in the thermal power / cogeneration industry.

    Responsibilities

    • Works in conjunction with senior engineers and provide assistance in engineering tasks.
    • Performs engineering calculations such as heat balances, stress analysis, piping system flow distribution, thermodynamic design calcs, pump/pipe head loss calcs, etc. relating to thermal power systems.
    • Works with equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, boilers, deaerators, pumps, etc.
    • Writes equipment specifications, evaluation of vendor proposals, and writing project technical reports.
    • Prepares project cost estimates leading to the economic evaluation of feasible options.
    • Travel is occasionally required for project work to conduct field work such as measurements, determine system tie-point locations, construction review, etc.
    • Works closely with a mentor to develop new skills and gain experience.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
    • 3 years of Mechanical Engineering experience required.
    • Analytical skills are required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
    • Experience in Microsoft Excel & MS Office required.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in the power plant industry highly preferred.
    • 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience preferred.
    • Local candidates preferred.
