    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join our growing Atlanta, GA office location.

     

    The Senior Engineer will serve as the technical lead for roadway design teams on transportation projects, but should also have a strong roadway hydraulic competency to help to develop and expand our breadth and depth of transportation-related hydrologic and hydraulic experience and expertise.

    Responsibilities

    • Project Manager for state and municipal DOT clients for the successful delivery of roadway and bridge projects including the management of budgets, schedules, resources and quality assurance/quality control. 
    • Lead technical role for either roadway and/or hydrologic and hydraulic disciplines related to surface transportation initiatives.
    • Must be technically adept in engineering analysis, simulation, interpretation and design, and have a proven background of technical leadership on roadway projects, as well as hydrologic and hydraulic components associated with all types of transportation projects.
    • Supervise and mentor junior engineers in the performance of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering tasks to grow the company’s experience and expertise.
    • Oftentimes serve as a technical specialist or peer consultant on projects or opportunities throughout CHA’s geographic areas of influence within the US.
    • Perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic planning, analysis, modeling and design for all aspects of stormwater, surface water and riverine considerations on transportation projects.
    • Work with technical staff on assigned projects including design direction and QA/QC of deliverables; preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates; performance of project and task management roles and responsibilities, development of technical study reports, assistance in development of technical policies and procedures; development of scope, budget, and schedule for new projects; involvement with the development of proposals, presentations, and qualifications to help secure new work; communicating with clients to ensure client satisfaction; and attends client functions, conferences, and external events to develop client relationships and develop project leads.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.

    • 15+ years of practical and applicable experience.

    • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.  
    • Proven hands on experience in all aspects of transportation design projects.
    • Management experience on transportation projects ranging from individual task or discipline involvement to project development and delivery of mid-size projects a plus.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; experience with hydrology and hydraulics modeling, simulation, analysis and design programs and Microstation preferred.
    • Demonstrating thorough knowledge, application and interpretation of industry recognized and accepted hydrologic and hydraulic practices, procedures and policies.
    • Technical skill-sets must include, but are not limited to, temporary and permanent detention, retention, management, conveyance, routing and water quality considerations.
    • Relevant and applicable industry certifications and training is a plus.
    • Strong leadership skills, communication skills and enthusiastic to work in a team environment.
    • Project management skills desirable.
