CHA Consulting, Inc., is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Group in our Richmond, VA office. 


This position will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of civil/site engineering, land development, stormwater management and infrastructure projects in Virginia area and beyond, from conceptual design through construction. 


  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of civil site, land development, and water/wastewater projects.
  • Leads the preparation of engineering plans, details, reports, specifications and construction cost estimates.
  • Civil/Site design of roadways, parking lots, grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utilities and construction details.
  • Experience with preparation of site plan and land development applications.
  • Coordinates with clients, regulators and permitting agencies; VA DEQ experience is a plus.
  • Completes field assignments, such as data collection and construction observation, when appropriate.
  • Bid phase services such as preparing project specifications, bid addendum, response to requests for information, review of bidders qualification and recommendation of award.
  • Construction engineering services such as shop drawing review, payment application, change order requests and developing punch lists.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • 3+ years of civil engineering experience required, land development, stormwater and water/wastewater experience preferred.
  • Fundamentals in Engineering (F.E.) is required, with ability to obtain a Virginia Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within 3 years is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and stormwater software: PondPack and StormCAD.
  • Virginia permitting experience is preferred.
  • Results oriented, with a collaborative work style and strong communication skills required.
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
