  • Overview

    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Corporate Health & Safety Manager who will lead the strategy planning, implementation, execution and overall management of a comprehensive occupational health and safety program, while also providing consultation and expertise in all aspects of corporate health and safety.

     

    Although the position is posted in Albany, NY, other CHA locations may be considered for the right candidate.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, coordinate and manages the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive occupational health and safety program designed to prevent injury, occupational illness and damage to property.
    • Draft and recommend company-wide safety and health directives; and maintain company safety-related manual, including preparation and distribution of appropriate updates.
    • Determine applicability of administrative and regulatory requirements and other health and safety laws and implement applicable regulations and standards. Maintain current knowledge of legislation, regulations and practices in environmental health and safety, including OSHA, DEC, EPA and NFPA State/Local Regulations, and advise management regarding the impact on company operations.
    • Responsible for hiring, terminating, promoting, recognizing and overall performance of the Corporate Health and Safety Group. This individual will coordinate these efforts with Human Resources for hiring/separation efforts, completing staff goals, performance appraisals, and rewarding staff for performance.
    • Establish and implement safety training objectives. Conduct or provide safety/ health related training.
    • Maintains records and ensures compliance with requirements for relevant health and safety information, including OSHA Recordkeeping/Reporting.
    • Setup a corporate training program for CPR, FA & AED for safety team personnel.
    • Establish and conduct regular health and safety meetings at applicable company sites at regular intervals while documenting meeting minutes and action items; ensure follow up on action items.
    • Represent the company in inspections and hearing conducted by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
    • Manage the facility incident and near miss investigation process to ensure incidents are reported in a timely manner, root causes are identified and corrective actions are tracked through closure.
    • Conduct and supervise facility and site inspections, job hazard analysis and other evaluations to identify hazards and potential risks.  Make recommendations for changes in equipment and or processes to correct unsafe conditions.
    • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents to determine requirements for new or modified training.
    • Drives and promotes continuous improvement and a zero incident H&S culture.
    • Establish, monitor, and adhere to the defined H&S budget on an annual basis.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications required; other applicable health and safety certifications preferred.
    • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred.
    • A minimum of 7 years in H&S management systems and process development, including 3 in a leadership capacity.
    • Firm understanding of OSHA regulations and other applicable health and safety regulatory requirements.
    • Proven ability with program implementation and mitigation of health and safety risks in the workplace.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Effective communicator and trainer with exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Good computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools).
