  • Overview

    CHA Consulting is currently seeking a Senior Accountant in our Albany, NY, Norwell, MA or Indianapolis, IN offices.

     

    As the Senior Accountant, you will support the Finance team. You will be an important part of the team and will leverage your knowledge of accounting and finance as well as your attention to detail, multi- tasking and organization skills to support multiple facets of the Finance department. Your responsibilities will include; updating and maintaining budgets, creating accurate reports, working with outside auditors, and analyzing issues and troubleshooting to resolve.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with the annual budget and forecasting process. Including, but not limited to analysis of budget overruns and reviewing accounting transactions for budget adherence.
    • Researches and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, month and budgeted amounts.
    • Works with independent auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
    • Assists with budget activity, expense coding, document preparation and other accounting related activities.
    • Oversee the company’s sales & use tax, personal property tax and business license tax requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
    • A minimum of 5 years progressive Accounting experience required
    • Experience in the engineering industry preferred.
    • Knowledge of GAAP and experience with budgets required.
    • The candidate should also have experience with contract and/or FAR audits and related regulatory requirements.
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be solutions oriented, client focused, and maintain confidentiality with the company’s financial and personnel information.
    • Organized and reliable. Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines.Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction or given assignments.
    • Ability to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
    • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient in excel.
