    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer to lead a section of our High Voltage Electrical (HVE) Group in our Albany, NY office location. CHA may also consider the following locations for this position:

    • Syracuse, NY
    • Rochester, NY

    The HVE Section Manager will be responsible for the management of all US staff within the HVE Group and will directly report to the Associate Vice President and Technical Director of the HVE Group. This individual will be measured on his/her staff’s technical quality, utilization of his/her discipline’s staff across all markets, and adherence to project schedules and budgets. The Section Manager will also be responsible for developing business opportunities, assisting with both high level technical advisory and detailed design aspects of HVE projects and providing direction and mentoring to technical support staff assigned to his/her projects. We’re seeking a motivated individual who is eager to bring in new clientele and build upon current HVE client relations.


    The primary duty of this role will be to lead a team in the development and delivery of HVE projects. Responsibilities include:  technical leadership; management of technical staff; project development and delivery; project management; development of proposals and scope/fee. Additional duties include assuring the appropriate mentoring and training of junior staff, assuring the appropriate blend of staff skill sets are brought to bear on projects, and understanding the impacts of discipline interaction on project development. This role will also be responsible for maintaining a work environment that fosters collaboration, career growth opportunity and good morale.



    • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required or equivalent professional experience required.

    To be successful in this role, one must possess the following:

    • P.E. license is required.
    • Minimum of 10 years related work experience in the electric utility, power plant, cogeneration or power distribution industry required.
    • Strong communication and technical writing skills are required.
    • Staff management experience required; must have ability to mentor, motivate, and manage different levels of technical staff.
    • An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups.
    • A high energy, results-oriented, resourceful leader.
    • Strong ability to resolve matters that arise within the discipline.
    • Strong experience with project budgeting.
    • Demonstrates a strong understanding of internal accounting processes.
    • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of company’s technical processes.
    • Candidates specifically possessing high voltage substation, protection and controls, distributed generation and/or distribution system engineering experience.
