    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer with expanded expertise in roadway drainage analysis and design to join our growing Atlanta, GA office location.


    Along with a comprehensive skill set in roadway geometric design, the Project Engineer will have a strong roadway hydraulic competency to help to develop and expand our breadth and depth of transportation-related hydrologic and hydraulic experience and expertise.


    • Lead highway design projects.
    • Overseeing junior-level staff in the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and public presentations.
    • Technical design of roadway and hydrologic and hydraulic disciplines related to surface transportation initiatives.
    • Technically adept in engineering analysis, interpretation and design, and have a proven background of technical leadership on roadway projects, as well as hydrologic and hydraulic components associated with all types of transportation projects.
    • Mentor junior engineers in the performance of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering tasks to grow the company’s experience and expertise.
    • Perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic planning, analysis, modeling and design for all aspects of stormwater, surface water and riverine considerations on transportation projects.
    • Work with technical staff on assigned projects including design direction and QA/QC of deliverables; preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates; performance of project task management roles and responsibilities, development of technical study reports, assistance in development of technical policies and procedures; development of scope, budget, and schedule for new projects; involvement with the development of proposals, presentations, and qualifications to help secure new work; communicating with clients to ensure client satisfaction; and attends client functions, conferences, and external events to develop client relationships and develop project leads.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
    • 6+ years of transportation design experience required.
    • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire required.
    • Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, Microsoft Office software; experience with hydrology and hydraulics modeling, simulation, analysis and design programs.
    • Demonstrating thorough knowledge, application and interpretation of industry recognized and accepted hydrologic and hydraulic practices, procedures and policies.
    • Technical skill-sets must include, but are not limited to, temporary and permanent detention, retention, stormwater quality management (MS4) practices, conveyance, and routing. Erosion control design capabilities are preferred.
    • Relevant and applicable industry certifications and training is a plus.
    • Strong leadership skills, communication skills and enthusiastic to work in a team environment.
    • Project management skills desirable.
