    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Manager II focused on energy and utility projects in our Rochester, NY office, however other CHA office locations could be considered.

     

    The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of projects within the Industry & Energy group. The project manager will manage all project aspects from development, through engineering, construction and project close-out. Primary functions include interfacing with the client manager, client and project team. The Project Manager will work effectively and efficiently to complete projects within the scope, budget and schedule. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall client relationship including any technical, financial or logistical issues that may arise.   

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for preparing proposals including development of scope, schedule and budget by coordinating with CHA technical groups and market staff.
    • Responsible for meeting the client’s needs and addressing issues that arise during the project.
    • Responsible for developing a comprehensive project schedule and communicating updates to the client, management and project team; manages project completion through project scheduling, expediting of required submissions and the management of the document submittals/approvals; exercises judgment and discretion and implements project controls while maintaining project quality.
    • Responsible for coordination of all project plans, specifications, and the contract with client, subcontractors, purchase orders, daily correspondence, and all other project related documents; maintains a set of contract documents that contains all the current contract changes and clarifications.
    • Conducts regular project progress meetings with client manager and provide progress reports to project team.
    • Communicates with project team so that the project is being delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible per the contract documents.
    • Responsible for all project financials including budget, forecast, cash flow, subcontractor billings/payments, and manages project to maintain positive cash flow throughout its life cycle; Responsible for project resource planning in coordination with the technical leaders
    • Reviews, manages and approves subcontractor payments.
    • Manages subcontractor selection process and executes subcontractor notice to proceeds
    • Develops project specific health and safety plan (HASP) in coordination with health and safety manager and communicates the plan with the project team; monitors compliance with the HASP by the project team.
    • Responsible for preparation and submission of project close-out documents for the client.
    • Provides a high level of service and responsiveness to client and co-workers.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, engineering management, or a related degree is required.
    • 10 years of relatable electrical, mechanical, and/or civil engineering experience required in the field of design.
    • 5 years of project management experienced required.
    • Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations and project closeout documents for projects required.
    • Experience in Microsoft Office suite required.
    • Experience understanding and interpreting client contract requirements.
    • Ability to track and oversee multiple projects required.
    • Experience utilizing problem-solving skills, exercising discretion, and making independent judgments required.
    • Experience managing project accounting processes to include project budgeting, forecasts and cash management required.
    • An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups required.
    • Must have good written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal and leadership skills required.
    • Strong ability to work in a team environment required.
    • Ability to travel as needed required.

     Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering preferred.
    • Knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera P6 preferred.
    • Consulting industry experience highly preferred.
