    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Structural Project Engineer for our Indianapolis, IN office.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Leads the design of small to medium sized structural projects as well as assisting senior level structural engineers on large design projects. Design projects will include preparation of design calculations, contract drawings and specifications for manufacturing, industrial, water / wastewater, commercial, federal, municipal, aviation, healthcare, educational, and sports related structures.
    • Develops structural design calculations involving steel, structural concrete, reinforced masonry and timber.
    • Assists in the preparation of project specifications.
    • Assists in developing technical design reports outlining applicable building/construction codes and system descriptions.
    • Assists in developing technical design reports assessing the structural and overall integrity of commercial and industrial facilities.
    • Assists in conducting onsite surveys and reviews of existing drawings to establish baseline conditions.
    • Assists in developing and executing the design for rehabilitation of existing structures.
    • Assists in creating /reviewing cost estimates for building projects from preliminary design to bidding documents.

    EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Concentration is required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.

    SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3+ years of structural design experience is required.
    • Experience in concrete, masonry and structural steel design is required. 
    • Experience performing construction administration related tasks for completed designs such as construction inspections, shop drawing review, answering contractor questions and RFI’s.
    • Must have knowledge of current State and International Building Codes.
    • Knowledge of the following structural related software is a plus; RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Enercalc, Tedds, REVIT.
    • Must be organized, flexible, and have the ability to work in a team environment.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Strong work ethic and time management skills.
    • Quality/Detail oriented

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must have ability to carry step and extension ladders as well as other field equipment used for building condition assessments. 
    • Willing and able to utilize and operate man lifts to perform assessments of building facades.
    • All applicable safety and man lift training will be provided as necessary.
