    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II (Energy) to join our Albany, NY or Rochester, NY or Syracuse, NY office.

     

    The Engineer will work in CHA’s Industry & Energy Mechanical Technical Group and will be responsible for completing design packages which typically will include specifications, flow diagrams/ P&IDs, layout drawings, among other aspects, as needed.  The Engineer will also be required to perform construction administration tasks such as submittal review, bid support, punch lists, commissioning support, among other tasks.  Occasionally, the position may require supporting efforts with energy auditing, retro-commissioning, or commissioning. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with development of HVAC and Plumbing System Construction Documents (drawings and specifications) for a variety of commercial, institutional and industrial clients.
    • Performs simple & routine tasks assigned at the direction of a mid or senior level engineer using the standards set by the company, group, client, etc.
    • Corrects markups on drawings provided by engineers.
    • Becomes familiar with the company’s and client’s methods, standards, and practices.
    • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines. 
    • May complete sections of permits.
    • Completes field assignments, when required.
    • Other related duties, as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
    • EIT certification or eligible to sit for the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam is required.

    SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1 year of mechanical engineering design professional experience required.
    • HVAC and plumbing system design experience required.
    • AutoCAD experience required.
    • Must have experience using MS Office.
    • Good oral and written communication skills required.
    • Good interpersonal and leadership skills required. 
    • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about mechanical engineering.     
    • Strong ability to work in a team environment required.
    • Exhibits a willingness to provide assistance to mid and senior level engineers.
    • Must have valid US driver’s license
    • Trace Trane and Revit experience preferred.
