  • OVERVIEW

    CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking Assistant Project Engineer II to join our General Structures group in the Jackson, MI expansion. Candidates should be able to travel to Indianapolis and various locations around Michigan for work and open to a work location in the Greater Southern Michigan area.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participates in the development of preliminary design concepts and makes simple comparative cost analysis or writes preliminary specifications
    • Aids in the development of computation methods, technical reports and specifications at the direction of a mid or senior level engineer using the standards established by the technical group
    • Recognizes technical discrepancies in analytical results, makes appropriate corrections and follows standard procedures established by the technical group
    • Develops a familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the firm’s and client’s practices, procedures, and standards
    • Understands project budgeting process
    • Accompanies senior engineering staff on field assignments when appropriate
    • Adheres to project budgets
    • Performs other related engineering duties

     

    EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) required

    SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • A minimum of 2 years of related Engineering experience required
    • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline
    • Has a strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field
    • Familiar with QA/QC procedures
    • Strong knowledge of engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
    • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist mid and senior level engineering and project management staff
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Participation in a professional engineering society/organization is preferred
