CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Supervisor to join our Transportation group in the Indianapolis, IN office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observes large and complex projects.
  • Familiar with company, client, government and industry standards.
  • Coordinates all project related issues.
  • Observes and monitors construction for conformance with contract documents and shop drawings/material submittals.
  • Records field observations and determines acceptability of construction worked performed.
  • Able to review and recommend acceptance or rejection of contractor’s proposed corrective measures for nonconforming work.
  • Monitors contractor’s quality control and verifies construction conforms to the contractor’s quality control plan.
  • Prepares reports outlining the work performed and the quality of work completed and acceptable for payment.
  • Prepares and maintains project records in accordance with the company’s, client’s, and government standards.
  • Reviews and verifies contractor’s payment applications, proposals, and change order requests.
  • Coordinates construction activities with owner, serves as main contact with client on construction related issues, and interacts with local government authorities.
  • Coordinates or conducts quality assurance testing, inspections and surveys.
  • Chairs project related meetings and oversees the preparation and distribution of meeting agendas, summaries, and any necessary project administration documentation.
  • Conducts constructability reviews, verifies quantity calculations, and assists with design related tasks.
  • Completes project close-out with no oversight.
  • Able to review and comment on shop drawing and material submittals for conformance with construction documents with oversight from designers.
  • Reviews and analyzes construction schedules.
  • Mentors and assists with skill development and training of accepted standards and procedures of entry level staff.
  • Coordinates workload of other inspection staff assigned to the project.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
  • This position may have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Services or related technical field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Site Manager proficiency certification.
  • INDOT IA testing certifications preferred.
  • INDOT level I stormwater certification preferred.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years of related Construction Observation experience required.
  • Demonstrates a good knowledge about the construction industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of and reinforces the company’s and client’s standards.
  • Ability to understand and interpret client’s contracts.
  • Able to analyze and recommend resolutions to complicated construction issues.
  • Strong mathematics skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel Project, and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as part of team.
  • Demonstrates willingness to aid and train entry level staff.
  • Ability to coordinate workload of other inspection staff members assigned to the project.
