CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Water/Wastewater group in Blacksburg, VA or Richmond, VA.


Ensuring water is clean and safe is one of the most important services that each community can provide. To that end, CHA has developed thousands of water-related projects, each taking into account our clients' unique environmental, water quality, permitability, and funding concerns. Our water and wastewater management offerings include full engineering and support services for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment systems from initial planning through permitting, design, bidding, construction administration, start-up, certification, and ongoing operational assistance.


The Construction Inspector II is responsible for observing and documenting the construction of sewer rehabilitation projects, sewer conveyance systems, water conveyance systems and water/wastewater treatment plants with associated other structures and facilities.


  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Services or related technical field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Inspection Certifications preferred


  • Minimum of 5 years of construction or construction observation experience required
  • Able to comprehend and enforce construction documents, drawings and specifications
  • Strong construction or inspection experience with water and wastewater projects
  • Working knowledge of electrical, structural, architectural and HVAC building codes and construction means and methods
  • Understands and follows company standards, demonstrates knowledge of construction techniques, and assists mid to senior level team members with complex projects
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Effective problem solver with the ability to be decisive in fast paced environments
  • Extensive travel will be required
