OVERVIEW

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Fire Sprinkler Helper to join our Fire Protection Business Line in our Birmingham, AL office location.

Our knowledgeable staff manages complex industrial, commercial and design/build fire protection projects, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, ground storage tanks, underground piping, and special hazards.

 

American Fire and CHA have a large presence in the design/build fire protection market, striving to provide customers with the most cost-effective and code-compliant fire protection systems possible. Our international division has provided fire protection services in more than 80 countries giving our team the knowledge and skills required to handle the unique challenges involved with overseas construction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sprinkler Helper is responsible for the complete installation of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings according to standards.

  • Assemble and install a variety of metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper
  • Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment such as pumps and tanks.
  • Interpret work specifications and fire codes
  • Test systems for leaks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • OSHA 30 Training required or must obtain within 30 days of employment

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • No industry experience is required
  • Ability to read blueprints and redline fab drawings (preferred)
  • Ability to perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as working within ducts, crawl spaces, climbing a ladder, outside in the heat or cold, on lift equipment, or dirty environments
  • Ability to work at heights in a man lift and lift 50+ pounds above head
  • Must have excellent communication skills and positive customer service attitude
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Must be willing to travel
