CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Structural Designer to join our Advanced Energy team from either Colonie, NY or Syracuse, NY.

At CHA, our Structural Designer is responsible for the research, preparation, and creation of various types of contract or construction drawings and/or documents. The Structural Designer collaborates with senior engineering designers, mentors junior engineering designers, and collaborates with design teams on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.


The Structural Designer produces and revises routine drawings or sketches related to the engineering design with minimal oversight from senior staff, and is familiar with company standards, client expectations and typical engineering practices. This role is also expected to prepare project “As-Builts” documentation, and field assignments when appropriate.


The Structural Designer uses drawing production software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation etc.) to create construction documents.

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field is required
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience of document production experience in the related engineering discipline
  • Experience with steel, concrete, and masonry structures required 
  • Demonstrates a solid working knowledge about the respective engineering discipline
  • Proficient with discipline-based software (REVIT, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Occasional travel to sites
