CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader to join our Bridge Team located at our Colonie, NY office.

We are on the forefront of bridge design developing new solutions that reduce cost and maintenance and utilize accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques to reduce road closure impacts. The Bridge Inspector Assistant Team Leader (ATL) will work closely and under the supervision of a Bridge Inspection Team Leader in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting detailed bridge inspections.  They will follow verbal and written directives to participate in taking field measurements and documenting observed conditions as well as recognizing and interpreting discrepancies or changes in field findings. The Bridge Inspector ATL will aid the Team Leader in preparing documents and sketches required for reports on inspection findings.  They will work towards developing a familiarity with company, client, government, and industry standards, including application and use of bridge inspection equipment and procedures. This individual may work on multiple projects, requiring time efficient and cost-effective work practices to meet client, contractual, and company requirements within scope and budget. The Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader solves routine problems by applying defined procedures and attends field assignments when appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology required
  • EIT certification is preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn from team environment about the bridge inspection discipline
  • Desire to work in the field daily during peak months
  • Valid US drivers license required
  • Local and overnight travel required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences 

Preference Given to Candidates with:

  • 1-2 year experience with bridge inspection and/or design
  • Successful completion of NHI Course 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, or similar FHWA approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course
  • Familiarity with inspection reporting programs (EAMP, etc) and element level inspection procedures

SALARY RANGE:

$65,000 - $75,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
