CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Chief Inspector to join our Infrastructure – Construction Inspection Team at our Colonie, NY office. This is a temporary, 6–8-month, full-time assignment.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA provides a full complement of construction administration and inspection services to monitor, record and deliver successful projects. Our inspection team includes seasoned certified construction professionals cross-trained in design, risk management, and health and safety compliance to underscore our commitment to stringent standards.  Our team understands that small details can have a big impact.

 

The Chief Inspector is responsible for all aspects of observing and documenting the construction of airports, highways and streets, sewer and water systems, dams, bridges, buildings and building systems (HVACR, electrical, plumbing, security, and communication systems) and other structures and facilities. The professional in this role coordinates all construction activities, serves as the main point of contact with the client, as well as chairs project-related meetings. The Chief Inspector has expert knowledge in all areas of construction inspection.

 

Additionally, the Chief Inspector observes and monitors construction for conformance with contract documents and shop drawings/material submittals. The Chief Inspector records field observations and determines acceptability of construction performed, reviews and recommends acceptance or rejection of contractor's proposed corrective measures for nonconforming work. Moreover, the individual in this role prepares reports outlining the work performed and quality of work completed/acceptable for payment. The Chief Inspector prepares and maintains project records, reviews/verifies contractor's payment applications, and proposals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Services or related technical field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • NICET Level III Highways Construction Inspection certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Minimum 10 years' related Construction Observation experience required
  • Demonstrates a good knowledge about the construction industry
  • Excellent knowledge of and reinforces the company’s and client’s standards
  • Ability to understand and interpret client’s contracts
  • Able to analyze and recommend resolutions to complicated construction issues
  • Understanding of building codes and zoning ordnances
  • Strong mathematics skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel Project, and Outlook
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as part of team
  • Demonstrates willingness to aid and train entry level staff
  • Ability to coordinate workload of other inspection staff members assigned to the project
  • Extensive travel may be required

SALARY RANGE:

$33.65 - $45.67

 

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
