CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Transportation Business Line Director to join our Transportation Business Line located near any of our major Eastern US office locations including Colonie, NY; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; and Miami, FL.

The Transportation Business Line Director will oversee the overall P&L management and strategic direction of their assigned business line to ensure profitable growth within its multiple business practices: Highway, Bridge, Traffic, CEI and Survey. This includes developing and executing a growth strategy, managing staffing, project management, technical excellence, quality assurance, and operational activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Business Line Oversight: Ensure the delivery of high-quality projects and services.
  • Strategic Management: Collaborate with corporate leadership to set and achieve operational and financial strategies.
  • Budget Preparation: Manage the Business Line's financial performance and annual budget.
  • Project Management: Oversee project execution; ensure proper processes and design principles are followed.
  • Team Morale: Work with Sector Leadership, Business Practice Leaders, and HR to address growth and improvement areas.
  • Staffing Oversight: Determine appropriate staffing levels in collaboration with Sector President, Sector Controller, and Business Practice Leaders.
  • Collaboration: Foster communication and coordination across Business Practices, markets, and employees.
  • Business Development: Lead new business bookings and support proposal efforts.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work with the Marketing/Communication team to position and brand the business line services and develop growth plans.
  • Acquisition Identification: Identify potential acquisition targets to support business growth.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field is required; M.S. or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience is required.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) required.
  • Strategic thinker to properly position the group for strong growth and financial performance.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of his/her business line as well as the adaptability for future services to be offered.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills and understanding of the P&L.
  • An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups.
  • A high energy, results-oriented, resourceful leader who can establish themselves as a credible strategic member of management within the company.
  • Technically astute and strategic in thinking to properly position the business line for strong technical and financial performance and client satisfaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and understanding of their respective business line.
  • Strong ability to resolve matters timely and lead initiatives/projects to completion with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, build and manage relationships across the company, and influence decisions from the top down and bottom up.
  • Trustworthy with the ability to handle confidential matters and sensitive information or situations with discretion.
  • Ability to travel on occasion

SALARY RANGE:

$200,000 - $225,000

 

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
