CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Principal Electrical Engineering Designer to join our Power & Manufacturing – Generation & Energy Management Team at our Colonie, NY office.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA is a leader in sustainable district energy, power and thermal generation systems. Our approach includes critical systems that are maintainable and operable with redundant, fail-safe backups. Our expertise encompasses gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, gas plants, biomass plants, coal-fired boiler plants, chiller plants, high-voltage substation, and more. From the early stages of master planning and permitting through comprehensive detailed design, we partner with our clients to create solutions that provide reliable, sustainable energy.

 

The Principal Electrical Engineering Designer, a key contributor at CHA, leads and oversees the research, preparation, and creation of various types of contracts, or construction, drawings. At CHA, the Principal Electrical Engineering Designer collaborates with design teams on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements. This key role provides direct guidance and supervision to other engineering designers.

 

The Principal Electrical Engineering Designer produces and revises routine drawings and examines complex contract documents/drawings for errors. The professional in this role has proficient knowledge of the engineering discipline standards, codes, and systems and is familiar with company standards, client expectations and typical engineering practices. This individual prepares project “As-Built” documentation, completes field assignments when appropriate, and conducts and participates in project review meetings. The Principal Electrical Engineering Designer also aides in the development of technical reports, material costs and construction estimates.

 

The Principal Electrical Engineering Designer uses drawing production software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation etc.) to create construction documents.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field is required
  • A minimum of 12 years’ experience of with document production experience in the related engineering discipline
  • Demonstrates an expert working knowledge about the respective engineering discipline
  • Demonstrates a strong expertise and ability in design drawing layout
  • Proficient with discipline-based software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

SALARY RANGE:

$44.23 - $53.12

 

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
