CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Junior Inspector to join our Construction Inspection Team in Columbia, SC. In this role, you’ll support transportation construction projects by observing field operations, documenting daily progress, and helping verify work meets established plans and standards. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, learn from seasoned inspectors, and build a strong foundation for long‑term growth—while contributing to CHA’s mission of responsibly improving the world we live in.

• Observe and monitor the construction activities on highways, streets, roadways, and other transportation structures, for compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards
• Record field observations, measurements, and computations to verify work performed
• Prepare clear, detailed reports and maintain accurate project records
• Coordinate or conduct quality assurance testing, inspections, and surveys

• High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred
• No prior experience required; prior construction or observation experience a plus
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications; knowledge of construction techniques
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Experience with AWP is a plus
• Strong math, communication, and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license required with ability to travel
• ACI and South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Earthwork and Concrete Roadway certifications preferred

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
