CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to join our Bridge Team in Hartford, CT; Burlington, MA; Keene, NH; Albany, NY; Indianapolis, IN; or Columbus, OH. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of bridge-focused transportation projects—contributing to solutions that improve resilience, manage risk, and advance the future of our transportation networks.

What You'll Do:

  • Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for bridge projects
  • Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
  • Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices for safety and infrastructure resilience
  • Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical bridge infrastructure projects
  • Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related disciplines required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
  • DOT hydraulic modeling and bridge design experience required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the hydraulic engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, bridge and/or culvert design, bridge scour evaluations, and FEMA floodplain evaluation, as well as proven ability to practically apply it in a professional environment
  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (HEC-RAS, TR-20, SMS SRH2D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Open Channel required
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $95,000

 

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
