CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Scientist to join our Environmental Team in Albany, NY. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead for projects involving hazardous building materials—guiding project execution from planning through delivery and contributing to solutions that support infrastructure, compliance, and sustainability initiatives across diverse markets.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the technical execution of major environmental projects focused on asbestos and hazardous building materials abatement—from concept through completion—by planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed project phases
  • Prepare abatement plans and related technical specifications in compliance with OSHA, EPA, AHERA, NESHAP, TSCA, ICR 56, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations for a variety of clients
  • Guide and mentor junior to mid-level scientists, fostering growth and technical excellence while ensuring compliance with client standards and providing quality control
  • Oversee the preparation of large, complex environmental data sets, technical reports, and design tasks for environmental projects
  • Lead the development of assessment reports and other reporting elements, as well as external presentations for clients, the public, and regulatory agencies
  • Assist with proposal development, including cost estimates and business development initiatives

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel required
  • Ability to read architectural renovation and demolition drawings with knowledge of building systems (HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, insulation, and building materials)
  • Proficient theoretical scientific knowledge and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as time-management skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • NYSDOL Certified Asbestos Building Inspector and Asbestos Project Designer required
  • NYSDOL Certified Asbestos Project Monitor, USEPA Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor, and/or NYSDOL Article 32 Mold Assessor preferred
  • Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions and physically navigate diverse environments

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $120,000

 

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
